Time Out Market Cape Town Unveils Exciting Culinary Additions

Time Out Market Cape Town, the renowned food and cultural market, has unveiled its latest additions to the line-up of local culinary talents. Set to open later this year at the V&A Waterfront, the market aims to showcase the best of the city’s food, drinks, and cultural experiences under one roof.

Confirmed to join Time Out Market Cape Town are Chef Peter Tempelhoff’s Ramenhead, Chefs Anwar Abdullatief and Yolani Abraham’s innovative concept Barakat, Matt Manning’s Culture Wine Bar, and Eugene Smith’s YARD pizza.

These additions will join the existing lineup, which includes Chef Bertus Basson’s De Vrije Burger, MLILO by Chef Vusi Ndlovu, The Melting Pot Seafood, Unframed Ice Cream, and How Bao Now. Leading up to the launch, Time Out Market Cape Town plans to announce further additions to its lineup, a captivating beverage program, and details on how local culture will be integrated into the experience.

Time Out Market Cape Town will feature a total of 13 homegrown and local chefs and restaurateurs, along with three bars and one stage. This diverse gathering of talents will welcome locals and visitors from around the country and the world, offering a curated blend of authentic South African and global cuisine. The chefs and restaurateurs, who call Cape Town home, will reflect the city’s vibrant culinary scene.

The four newly introduced concepts will complement the existing roster, providing a variety of cuisines curated by the city’s finest culinary talents.

Ramenhead

Ramen enthusiasts will delight in the offerings of Ramenhead, introduced by Chefs Peter Tempelhoff, Ashley Moss, and Service and Beverage Director Jennifer Hugé. The team’s extensive experience includes the Japanese-African restaurant FYN. Drawing inspiration from their love for Japanese cuisine, Tempelhoff, Moss, and Hugé embarked on a tasting journey through Osaka and Tokyo to capture the essence of ramen styles and techniques. These influences will be showcased at Time Out Market Cape Town.

Barakat

Chef Anwar Abdullatief and TV personality Chef Yolani Abrahamswill bring the unique halal fine-dining experience of Barakat to the market. Their Cape Malay-inspired menu seeks to immerse diners in the flavors originating from the Mother City. Dishes like “Ou mense onder die kombers,” “Tomato ‘Breedie,'” and “Aromatic Fish” are designed to provide an engaging and authentic Cape Malay dining experience.

Culture Wine Bar

Restaurateur and Chef Matt Manning’s Culture Wine Bar will showcase a curated selection of South African fine wines. This celebration of the country’s wine industry aims to highlight the pioneering winemakers who are pushing boundaries. Guests at Time Out Market Cape Town can explore an array of wines through a diverse menu, ranging from cool climate varietals to sparkling wines. The bar’s mission is to position South Africa alongside global wine heavyweights.

YARD

YARD, known for The Dog’s Bollocks and Pizza Warehouse, is a beloved presence on the Cape Town culinary scene. With its reputation for exceptional pizzas and chicken wings, YARD is set to bring its unique offerings to Time Out Market Cape Town. The pizza menu will feature a range of dough bases, sauces, and toppings, including options like “New York Pepperoni” and “Juicy Chick.” Alongside the delectable food, YARD will infuse its service with its characteristic eclectic and entertaining style.
