Sip, Savour, and Sightsee – The Ultimate Benguela Cove Adventure

Benguela Cove

A new holiday excursion offers a uniquely immersive experience for visitors to Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate, one of the top Hermanus wine farms. This full-day event includes a range of activities designed to showcase the best South African wines and the breath-taking beauty of the region.

The Ultimate Benguela Experience begins with a welcome drink of Cuvée58 Cap Classique, from the estate’s award-winning range of wines, setting the tone for a day of indulgence and exploration. Guests are then treated to a pontoon boat cruise, with a chance to appreciate the stunning surroundings of the Botriver Lagoon and Walker Bay, where they might see the famous Southern Right whales of Hermanus and the wild horses of Benguela Cove.

Continuing the adventure, the package includes a cheese platter paired with a Pinot Noir wine tasting, enabling guests to sample some of the best South African wines produced by Benguela Cove. Following the tasting, a private wine-ambassador-led cellar tour provides an in-depth look into the estate’s wine-making process.

A two-course gourmet lunch at the Moody Lagoon restaurant, accompanied by a glass of wine, offers a chance to savour the flavours of the cool climate varietals, grown in vineyards at the very edge of the Atlantic Ocean, while enjoying picturesque views. The Hermanus restaurant is renowned for its exquisite culinary offerings, making it a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts.

The experience concludes with a vineyard safari, where guests can enjoy wine tasting amongst the vines, immersing themselves in the lush greenery of the estate. The Ultimate Benguela Experience is available for booking from Wednesday to Sunday and, with a duration of approximately seven hours, offers a comprehensive and unforgettable experience for visitors.

For those considering an overnight or weekend stay, the estate features luxury villa accommodation and is conveniently located close to many of Hermanus’ other top attractions.

The villas are fully equipped for self-catering and feature inverters/backup power supplies, Wi-Fi, log fires, outdoor braai, swimming pool, and sundeck – all within a secure, private area on the estate.

“Each villa accommodates 6 to 10 guests, so they are perfect for family vacations, staycations, wedding celebrations and company away days. They are cosy and warm in the winter – and there are roaring log fires across the estate, in the tasting room and restaurant, The Ultimate Benguela Experience is a fantastic opportunity to explore the region’s rich wine heritage, natural beauty, and delicious cuisine.” says the estate owner, Penny Streeter.
