New Luxury Holiday Accommodation in Hermanus at Benguela Cove

Benguela Cove

Oceanfront villas for vacation rentals are now available at Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate, the exclusive Western Cape resort near Hermanus. The luxury beachfront accommodation is located in the residential area of the Walker Bay wine estate, which was acquired and developed by the Streeter family in 2013.

The vineyard and eco-holiday destination has just earned the national ‘Cellar Door Experience of the Year’ title in wine writer Tim Atkin’s 10th annual South Africa Special Report.

“Villa guests can wake in the morning on a vineyard estate with views across the beautiful lagoon, which is shielded from the Atlantic Ocean by a sandbar that keeps the water warm and sharks away,” says Penny Streeter OBE.
“During the day, there’s a wide choice of watersports and adventure trails, fine cuisine, wine tastings, arts and music, all within the estate’s separate hospitality sector. Hermanus is nearby, with its renowned whale watching, restaurants, and entertainment – and Cape Town International Airport is only an hour away.

“Four villas are available for luxury stays – ideal for family holidays, staycations and wedding parties. The detached villas each have excellent Wi-Fi, a swimming pool, and every contemporary amenity, all within a secure private area on the estate.”
Each villa sleeps 6 to 10 guests, with en-suite bedrooms. The kitchens are fully equipped for self-catering, and there are interior fireplaces, an outside braai, a pool and a sundeck.

The estate’s lagoon beachfront, which is the second longest in South Africa, has exclusive boat access for guests and residents to enjoy a variety of waterborne sports – sailing and motorboating, paddle boarding, waterskiing, fishing, kitesurfing, and other activities.
On-site facilities include boat storage and the use of a tractor and slipway for fast and easy launches. There is a private clubhouse near the jetties, available for an additional hire fee, with a kitchen and reception room and an adjacent private stretch of beach, where homeowners can book a braai after a day spent in or on the water – or play a few sets on the neighbouring tennis courts.

Guests can visit the separate winery area at Benguela Cove, which has a restaurant and wine-tasting lounge. Visitors can enjoy wine tastings on a pontoon boat cruise of the lagoon. This adds a new dimension to the enjoyment of this special stretch of water, says Penny Streeter. Cruises are free for two people when guests buy a case of wine from the estate’s award-winning vineyard.
Villas are available for rental 12 months of the year, & also for purchase.
