Cape Town will soon be home to Africa’s first Time Out Market – a concept that showcases a city’s best food and drink experiences under one roof.
The first Time Out Market opened in 2014 in a historic market hall in Lisbon, Portugal quickly turning into the most popular destination in the city with over 4 million visitors a year. The success of Lisbon brought further expansion with Time Out Markets opening in: Miami, New York, Boston, Montreal, Chicago, and Dubai.
Time Out Market Cape Town is expected to open towards the end of 2023 at the V&A Waterfront. Visitors will get to taste food from local top chefs and much-loved restaurateurs, sip cocktails from award-winning mixologists and enjoy culture and entertainment from rising talents. The space will span 27,000 sq ft and feature fourteen kitchens, four bars and one stage. With approximately 750 seats, guests will be able to sit indoors or quayside with the spectacular view of Table Mountain as a backdrop.
“We are delighted to have secured this great offering,” says David Green, CEO of V&A Waterfront Holdings. “Time Out Market coming to our city reaffirms Cape Town as one of the world’s leading tourism destinations. We look forward to the vibrant offering and another way of showcasing local culinary expertise.”
