Students have the opportunity to explore a variety of electives such as Hospitality (focused on food preparation), Automotive Repair, Maintenance, and Ancillary Health Care—fields that offer not just employability, but also the potential for entrepreneurship.
The academy also prioritises workplace readiness, aiming to give students practical experience that translates into tangible career opportunities. This approach is particularly valuable in a country where youth unemployment remains a pressing challenge. State-of-the-Art Training Kitchen
A standout feature of the new academy is its recently completed Training Kitchen, a modern facility designed to support the hospitality stream. Sponsored by Tiger Brands through a R1-million investment, the kitchen is fully equipped to help students build essential food preparation skills, while also serving the nutritional needs of the school.
Tiger Brands will also supply nutritious food ingredients for one year, ensuring students not only learn in a real-world environment but are also part of something that supports the broader school community. A second training kitchen is already in the pipeline and will be built in 2026 as part of the academy’s planned expansion.
This investment goes beyond infrastructure—it represents a commitment to long-term community development. With the food preparation programme, students gain real-world skills they can use in professional kitchens, catering businesses, or even to launch their own ventures.
