Bascule Bar & Lounge Reopens with Stunning Redesign

Bascule Bar & Lounge

The reopening of the Bascule Bar & Lounge on 4 July marks a new chapter for the iconic Cape Town venue. With its stunning mountain views, sophisticated design, and commitment to showcasing local art, Bascule is set to reclaim its place as a beloved spot for both locals and visitors to the city. The bar has undergone a major transformation under the supervision of international design firm 1508 London, aligning with the hotel’s recent renovation.

Bascule Bar & Lounge

Bascule has been redesigned with inspired elements. The interior now features cosy alcoves, velvety textures, an elegant long bar, and curated contemporary artworks by established and emerging local artists such as Banele Khoza and Colbert Mashile, all contributing to the venue’s ambience and storytelling.

The new drinks and food offering developed in collaboration with chef Gregory Czarnecki promises to be exciting, with flavours inspired by the veld, the mountain, and the sea.

Highlights include small plates such as linefish ceviche served with pomelo, pickled daikon, and ponzu, and cocktails like “The Tide Is High”, made with Jorgensen’s Vodka, lychee, salted lime sorbet, and Graham Beck Brut, and adorned with gold. The bar, of course, honours its heritage as a cornerstone of Cape Town’s drinks scene with an extensive whisky collection and wine cellar, ensuring that the essence of Bascule remains unchanged.
