Onderkloof Wine Estate, situated on the Helderberg wine route at the foot of the Hottentots Holland mountains, celebrated their Swiss heritage on the 4th of August by hosting a wine tasting with Swiss flair.
The event attracted a large number of ‘Swiss swallows’ – Swiss citizens who spend a few months in sunny South Africa – as well as locals, curious about Onderkloof’s Swiss roots and award winning wines. Visitors enjoyed authentic bratwurst, nibbled from the excellent traditional cheese boards with home-made bread and preserves. All accompanied by huusmusik performed by a band of Schweizerisch musicians.
Onderkloof’s Tasting Room, now open every first Saturday of the month from 10h30 until 15h00, was packed with visitors and wine bloggers. Not missing the opportunity, many captured a memory of the day by taking pictures of the majestic view across False Bay while enjoying Onderkloof’s quality wines and good company.

The next Onderkloof wine tasting takes place on Saturday, 1 September. Onderkloof is situated at 17 Old Sir Lowry’s Pass road, Somerset West.
