This is the story of Kamila Napora, a travel writer affectionately known as Kami, who has always been a traveller at heart. From her early days being whisked around Poland and Europe by her parents, to her adventures through Central Europe and the former USSR, Kami’s wanderlust has only intensified over the years. Her interests have evolved, leading her to seek out street art, alternative culture, and 20th-century architecture in each new destination.
Visiting Cape Town was an unexpected love affair for Kami. Over five days, her affection for the city grew, fuelled by a blend of stunning places, vibrant vibes, and unique scents.
For someone who loves both mountains and the sea, Cape Town was a slice of heaven. Nestled on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and at the foot of the majestic Table Mountain, the city offered Kami the perfect mix of natural beauty.
A trip to the top of Table Mountain was a highlight for Kami. The view from the summit was enchanting, showcasing the incredible natural beauty within the city’s reach. Her visit to Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden revealed a newfound interest in exotic plants and flowers, previously unexplored.
Staying in Observatory, Kami found a slower pace of life, quirky shops, and local cafés that resonated with her. Cape Town’s vibrancy was palpable in areas like the V&A Waterfront, cultural Long Street, and the colourful Bo-Kaap neighborhood. Bo-Kaap, in particular, with its fairy-tale-like bright houses and cobbled streets, was a downtown highlight for Kami.
Although not typically a beach person, Kami found Cape Town’s beaches – Camps Bay, Clifton, and Muizenberg – irresistible for relaxation. Spending her afternoons there was the perfect way to unwind.
It was the culmination of these experiences – the small, yet significant moments – that made Kami fall in love with Cape Town. The city felt familiar, like an old friend, and now, she longs to return, not to explore, but to simply bask in the city’s unique vibe and enjoy its laid-back lifestyle.
