Vergelegen wine estate in Somerset West, renowned for its stunning beauty and rich history, invites amateur and professional photographers to its second annual Essence of Vergelegen photographic contest. This event offers a unique opportunity to capture the estate’s exquisite gardens, diverse wildlife, and charming hospitality offerings.
The contest is divided into three categories, accommodating a variety of photographers. The ‘Camera class’ welcomes entries taken with any camera, lens inclusive. The ‘Smartphone class’ is designed for images shot on mobile devices, embracing the modern mobile photography trend. The ‘Junior class’ is open to young enthusiasts aged 16 and under, using any photographic device, encouraging the participation of budding photographers.
The rewards for this contest are substantial, including high-end photographic equipment from Orms Direct and Canon, exclusive Vergelegen experiences, restaurant vouchers, and select wines. These prizes aim to celebrate and promote photographic artistry. Adding to the allure, finalists will have their work exhibited at the estate, underlining Vergelegen’s status as a provincial heritage site and a hub of artistic inspiration.
Participants should note the specific timeframe for eligible submissions: photographs must be taken between 25 November 2023 and the end of March 2024, with earlier images being ineligible. This period allows photographers to capture the estate in various seasonal conditions, showcasing its evolving beauty.
The Essence of Vergelegen contest is not just a competition but a celebration of the estate’s natural and cultural splendour. It’s an invitation for photographers globally to explore and depict the timeless allure of Vergelegen, fostering a deeper appreciation for art, nature, and history in this picturesque setting.
