The Totalsports Women’s Race, heralded as South Africa’s quintessential celebration during Women’s Month, is set to open its entries on Wednesday, 10 April 2024. Michael Meyer, the Managing Director of Stillwater Sports, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, emphasizing its role in extending the National Women’s Day celebrations throughout August. He highlighted the unifying aspect of the event, which aims to bring together thousands of active women across three major cities for a trio of days filled with festivity and empowerment.
In particular, the Cape Town leg of the race is eagerly anticipated to take place on Friday, 09 August 2024. Participants will commence their journey on Darling Street and cross the finish line at the iconic Grand Parade. Meyer’s call to action encourages potential participants to register early, ensuring their place at the start line of what promises to be an energizing morning. The event seeks to bring together women from varied backgrounds to collectively “paint the streets of Cape Town, Durban, and Johannesburg pink” in support of PinkDrive, a prominent breast cancer community carer.
Nikki Crous, the Head of Marketing at Totalsports, also shared her excitement about the 2024 edition of the Totalsports Women’s Race. She described the event as a powerful testament to women’s strength and empowerment. Crous extended an invitation to women from all walks of life to join in the celebration across the three major cities, on three distinct days in August, thereby showcasing the solidarity and power of women in South Africa.
