Endurocad athletes excited to take on the Totalsports Women’s Race

Endurocad will be out in full force at the Totalsports Women’s Race on Wednesday 09 August (National Women’s Day) with 120 athletes eagerly signing up to take on the 2023 event.

Established in 2013, Endurocad is a registered non-profit organisation that focuses on the advancement of athletic performance and education through various projects.

“Endurocad’s Young Women Empowerment Program ‘ACHIEVE’ uses sport and running to develop strong young women, change-makers who are self-sufficient, and who in turn will hopefully have a positive impact on their communities,” says Nolene Conrad, Endurocad Athletes Manager, and ambassador for the Young Women’s Empowerment Program. “We follow a holistic approach, using athletic participation as the catalyst, enabling these young ladies to believe in themselves, while exposing them to the possibilities out there. We have 120 young women who participate in ongoing workshops, skill development programs, outings and compete in athletic competitions.”

“We would like to expose the young women to mass women’s only events where they feel part of a sisterhood,” continues Conrad. “We believe that the Totalsports Women’s Race is a wonderful opportunity for the young women to come out of their communities and explore the unique history and beauty of the Mother City. Taking part in the event in 2022 was such a positive experience for them. They nearly didn’t’ want to return home after the event as they had so much fun. They loved being out running and/or walking under the shadow of Table Mountain, starting next to Madiba’s statue at City Hall – acknowledging his awesomeness, remembering, and celebrating his life. Passing the statue was a momentous occasion for them. They also really enjoyed the spirit and vibe of the race.”

In closing Conrad adds: “The ACHIEVE program’s theme for the year is HOPE. Our athletes are looking forward to walking/running with thousands of women from all walks of life – granny’s, moms, daughters, sisters, cousins, and aunts – all of whom have one thing in common, being a woman. Receiving the beautiful event t-shirt and medal is always the cherry on the cake for them.”
