On 7 September 2024, the DHL Stadium will welcome two of the greatest teams in world rugby history for their first test match in Cape Town since 2017. This highly anticipated event, that is guaranteed to be a sold-out spectator experience, will see the Springboks take on the All Blacks in an intense clash. The Mother City expects to see an influx of fans, travelling from far and wide, to see these two powerhouse teams battle it out at the iconic DHL Stadium.
While the Springboks continue their in-person alignment camps ahead of the upcoming Test fixtures, Cape Town is preparing itself to host this momentous occasion. Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis has expressed his excitement about hosting one of rugby’s fierce rivalries in the Mother City.
‘We look forward to hosting these two rugby giants in our beautiful City and of course, welcoming guests from around the world to experience the magic that Cape Town has to offer,’ said Hill-Lewis.
The DHL Stadium has played host to many esteemed events and once again looks forward to creating history as it hosts its first ever SA vs NZ test match.
‘We are proud to be the host venue for this incredible event and look forward to delivering a seamless and memorable experience for all spectators on match day,’ said DHL Stadium CEO, Gina Woodburn.
The planning for the SA vs NZ test match is well under way between all roleplayers with this being one of the biggest sporting events on the City’s events calendar. The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security Alderman JP Smith has confirmed that the City’s Events Coordinating Committee is ‘currently working with the event organiser Stormers Rugby, SAPS and DHL Stadium Management to finalise the plans for this event to ensure all the logistics are taken care of for a safe, holistic and memorable experience on game day’.
