The songo.info Champions Race, a premier event in the mountain biking calendar, is returning after a three-year hiatus, with fibertime™ stepping in as the new headline sponsor. This event is set to take place in the vibrant community of Kayamandi, on the Wednesday preceding the Absa Cape Epic, attracting some of the world’s top mountain bike racers.
These athletes will be converging not only to fine-tune their racing skills, but also to support a charitable cause. Fans of mountain biking are invited to join the festivities at the Kayamandi Sports Fields, located just beneath the songo.info clubhouse, on 13 March 2024. The event promises an exciting lineup, including E-Bike, Elite Women’s, and Elite Men’s Races, all following a 20-minute plus one lap format. Admission for spectators is complimentary, with a suggested R20 donation for parking via SnapScan or Zapper.
For the first time in 2024, the event is opening up the E-Bike race to the general public, allowing participants to experience the thrill of the 2.5-km urban course alongside the elite competitions. While the elite men’s and women’s races remain by invitation only, E-Bikers can register through Quicket with a R350 donation.
Additionally, the event will be broadcast live on fibertime.tv, beginning with the pre-race activities at 16:30 and continuing with the races from 17:00 onwards. Fans can also follow the excitement and get updates via songo.info’s social media channels, including Instagram stories and Facebook posts.
