As the vibrant energy of August gives way to the blossoming promise of September, the Mother City gears up for an event that truly encapsulates the spirit of our region: CapeWine 2025.
From September 10th to 12th, the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) will transform into Africa’s premier wine trade show, a triennial celebration that perfectly aligns with our “Experience the Region” theme for this August edition.
Hosted by Wines of South Africa (WoSA), this isn’t just an event for industry insiders; it’s a profound statement about the heart and soul of our lifestyle. With “Our Warmest Welcome” as its guiding theme, CapeWine 2025 goes beyond the glass, inviting trade professionals from over 60 countries to connect with the remarkable people behind our world-renowned wines. This human element is what truly defines the regional experience – the passionate winemakers, the dedicated farmers, and the vibrant stories woven into every bottle.
A Deeper Dive into the Wine Experience
Imagine immersing yourself in a showcase featuring over 400 South African wine producers – the largest gathering ever. From the established giants to the innovative new voices, including a dedicated pavilion for certified organic and biodynamic wines, and a platform highlighting black-owned brands, the diversity is breathtaking. Beyond the main exhibition halls, attendees can delve into two formal seminars daily at the John Deere Seminar Area, exploring topics like heritage estates, the iconic Pinotage, and even the future of regenerative agriculture.
The Amorim Speaker’s Corner offers more intimate sessions, often paired with six wines to illustrate their impact on winemaking. And for those eager to taste through specific styles, a free-pour tasting area with 120 wines will explore themes like Chenin Blanc, Cap Classique, and the growing trend of no and low-alcohol wines.
This landmark tenth edition, a quarter-century after the first CapeWine, truly reflects the evolution of our wine industry. As WoSA CEO Siobhan Thompson expresses, it embodies “the phenomenal wines that we produce, our wonderfully warm people, the dramatic and spectacular landscapes and the overall richness of our culture.
