With just over six weeks to go, thousands of trail runners, supporters, and outdoor enthusiasts from around the globe are preparing to gather in the Mother City for Africa’s premier trail running festival. From 20 to 22 November 2026, the RMB Ultra-trail Cape Town (RMB UTCT) will transform the iconic landscapes of Table Mountain and the Cape Peninsula into the ultimate arena of human endurance.

Serving as the grand finale of the prestigious World Trail Majors, RMB UTCT has firmly cemented Cape Town’s status as a top-tier international sporting destination. The event’s profile continues to soar, following a sensational 2025 edition that hosted 2,800 athletes from 66 countries. Local runners made history last year by dominating the flagship 100 Mile race, sweeping the women’s podium and capturing both individual titles.

“The performances we witnessed in the 2025 edition were truly world-class. South African athletes showed they can compete with the very best in the world,” says Race Director Stuart McConnachie.

Chasing Greatness and the Century Mark

While entries for the festival’s shorter distances—ranging from 16km to 55km—sold out at an incredible pace earlier in the year, ambitious trail runners still have a rare window of opportunity. Limited entries remain in the premier long-distance categories: the 100km UT100 and the ultra-gruelling 100 Mile UTCT.

Twelve years after its inaugural event, the famous 100km race is edging closer to its first-ever complete sellout—a monumental milestone that highlights the growing global appetite for mountain ultra-marathons. Whether tackling 100 kilometers or 100 miles, athletes will face rugged mountain trails, unpredictable coastal weather, and breathtaking vistas as they push their physical and mental limits through Table Mountain National Park.

Etched in History: The Hundreds Wall of Honour

To celebrate the extraordinary grit required to complete these distances, organizers recently introduced the Hundreds Wall of Honour—a permanent tribute dedicated to every athlete who completes either the 100km or 100 Mile route.

In sport, the number 100 represents a universal benchmark of greatness, from a century in cricket to a 100-point basketball game. At RMB UTCT, completing a hundred is a life-changing milestone that forever embeds a runner into trail running folklore.

“At its core, hundreds represent abundance, dedication, and the accumulation of small efforts that lead to extraordinary outcomes. It’s hundreds of training runs, hundreds of doubts overcome… and ultimately, hundreds of kilometres or miles that transform ordinary people into legends of their own making.”

— Stuart McConnachie, Race Director

As the final countdown begins, athletes worldwide are putting the finishing touches on their training regimes. Every finish line tells a story of triumph over physical and mental boundaries, and this November, Cape Town stands ready to welcome its newest legends.
