The kykNET Buite Ekspo, held from 7 to 9 March 2025 on Môreson Farm outside Malmesbury, once again attracted thousands of visitors for a weekend filled with adventure, family fun, and local talent. According to Marius Opperman of Trio Events, the event organiser, this year’s expo was a major success and remains one of the top outdoor events on the calendar for the Swartland region and beyond.
With activities ranging from 4×4 adventures to live entertainment and outdoor exhibitions, the expo offered something for every lifestyle. Visitors enjoyed exploring the latest in outdoor gear, camping products, and 4×4 accessories, while adrenaline seekers took on the Maniac 4×4 track or joined André de Villiers of André 4×4 for a free ride along challenging routes.
For those wanting to take in the Swartland’s breathtaking scenery from above, Mossel Bay Helicopters offered scenic flights, giving visitors a bird’s-eye view of the farmlands and mountains. Families with children were also well catered for, with Liewe Heksie “Vang Vis” providing joyful entertainment for the younger crowd.
Local Entertainment, Food, and Community Spirit
Throughout the weekend, well-known artists such as Rooiwyn Profeet, Nic Stevens, Rooies, and Nadia Louw & Manie took to the Hankook stage, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Live music filled the air as visitors browsed a variety of food and wine stalls showcasing Swartland’s finest flavours, from hearty traditional meals to exceptional local wines.
The kykNET Buite Ekspo also played an important role in supporting local businesses, SMMEs, and tourism operators, giving them the chance to showcase their products and services to a wide audience. This event continues to be a significant economic boost for the Swartland Municipality and surrounding communities, celebrating not just outdoor living but also the unique culture and talent of the region.
New Addition: Plus Net Agri Mark Agri Park
One of the exciting new additions this year was the Plus Net Agri Mark Agri Park, which made its debut as a small but promising step toward including local agriculture in the expo. Although it was the first time that an agricultural segment was part of the event, the Agri Park drew interest from residents and visitors alike who are passionate about rural life, farming, and local products.
The kykNET Buite Ekspo closes 2025 with the promise to return in 2026 — a celebration of outdoor living, community, and the best of the Swartland lifestyle.
