SA’s ‘MTB Party of the Year’, the Savanna Origin of Trails MTB Experience, will start and finish at Coetzenburg Stellenbosch University on Saturday, 19 and Sunday, 20 November 2022 and mountain bikers are in for a treat!
Stage One of the Marathon will include five moderate climbs with very little flat sections. Iconic farms to look out for en route will include Lanzerac, Coetzenburg, Stellekaya, Mont Marie, Chaloner Estate, Dornier and Vriesenhof. This stage boasts exciting new trails in Botmaskop, large sections of single track that isn’t accessible during the year, the well-known floating bridge at Mont Marie as well as the iconic G-Spot. Look forward to experiencing surprising features in Stellekaya and Mont Marie. Stage Two will feature open roads and easier single track. Farms that will form part of this stage will include c, Stellenrust, Annandale, Alto, Ernie Els, Guardian Peak, Audacia and Spier. Memorable sections are sure to be the single track in Alto and Ernie Els, Stellenbosch Airfield and a vast network of new trails at Spier.
Stage One of the Half Marathon will consist of open roads and fun single track. Look forward to experiencing trails at Coetzenburg, Stellekaya, Mont Marie, Dornier and Vriesenhof. The trails at Dornier and the floating bridge at Mont Marie are guaranteed route highlights.
This stage is not very technical, but does include quite a bit of climbing. Stage Two will predominantly consist of open flat trails through Blaauwklippen, Stellenrust, Audacia, Annandale and Spier. The water point at the Stellenbosch Flying Club will add excitement.
