The beloved musical “MAMMA MIA!” is set to grace the stages of Artscape, Cape Town starting from 6th March and with the final performance on 7 April 2024. Produced by Showtime Management, this rendition boasts an all-South African cast.
Featuring timeless ABBA hits like “Dancing Queen” and “Knowing Me, Knowing You,” the production, written by Catherine Johnson, unfolds on a Greek island paradise, revolving around family, friendship, and a wedding celebration. The story follows Sophie, who invites three men from her mother’s past to her wedding in hopes of finding her father.
The stellar cast includes Gina Shmukler as Donna Sheridan, Kate Normington as Tanya, and Ilse Klink as Rosie. Also joining are Kiruna-Lind Devar as Sophie Sheridan, Emmanuel Castis as Sam Carmichael, Matt Newman as Harry Bright, and Tiaan Rautenbach as Bill Austin.
Directed by Janice Honeyman, the production promises captivating performances and sparkling chemistry from the cast. The ensemble, led by dance captain Alexandra Girard, adds energy and spirit to the show. The creative team, led by award-winning director Janice Honeyman, includes choreographer Duane Alexander, musical director Charl-Johan Lingenfelder, and scenic and lighting designer Denis Hutchinson. The technical aspects are managed by Alistair Kilbee and Peter Taylor.
