Domestic airline Lift is open for business between Cape Town and Durban, just in time for the festive season. The addition of this route allows for added capacity to the growing domestic market.
To date Lift operates the CPT-JNB and JNB-DUR, route. As of 25 November, Lift introduced the last leg, the popular domestic DUR-CPT route, thereby completing the golden triangle – now servicing the three major cities in South Africa.
“Not only will this add much-needed capacity, but will also offer passengers a real premier-class alternative,” said Jonathan Ayache, co-founder and CEO.
The current state of the airline industry has resulted in thousands of talented and experienced people being available. “We‚ve been fortunate to onboard a group of truly special and talented people‚ to help us build this new airline. Every single person on the team has high energy levels‚ a can-do attitude and a customer-focused‚ problem-solving ability. Having these kinds of people within our fold can only lead to good things.”
What makes Lift better when it comes to the selection of an airline? “Our whole philosophy is to focus and make the experience for customers the best experience they can have on an airline,” says Jonathan Ayache, co-founder and CEO.
The real magic flying Lift is the ground staff and crew with their friendly smiles and willingness to help, solve problems, and make sure customers have a memorable flight.
Lift is not a low-cost airline, but if you book in advance, you may be pleasantly surprised at their competitive rates. When it comes to seating – more legroom is provided comparing to other airline carriers in South Africa.
One of Lift’s key values is flexibility. Customers can change their booking up to 24-hours before departure without further costs, regardless of what kind of ticket you purchased – no penalties, no cancellation fees.

Concerning delays and cancellation, Lift will communicate such delay by SMS. LIFT Credits are instantly deposited into your LIFT Wallet following a flight cancellation or when a change in flight results in a lower fare, to compensate for the inconvenience.
“We will also have our dog-friendly flights as an option between Durban and Cape Town,” Ayache, concluded.
For the early morning coffee drinker, Lift partnered with Vida e-Caffé, to ensure you get only the best coffee. Plated meals are served in the premier class, and a snack in the economy class. All drinks are complementary.
International passengers will also benefit from the added connection as they travel between Cape Town and other popular tourist destinations in South Africa.
