The well-known Leon Kluge, the winner of several awards for landscape exhibitions around the world, including awards for his exhibitions at the Chelsea Show in England in 2010, 2012, and again this year, will open the show on 22 August in the “Blomkerk”. Leon is an internationally acclaimed landscape designer, artist, botanist, presenter, and author.
In line with the theme “Nostalgia,” this year there will be reflections on the wildflower shows of days gone by, the volunteers who initiated the show, and how the wildflower show has developed and expanded over the years.
“Our region has had good rain, our dam is overflowing, and our mountain peaks were recently covered with snow. The field is lush green, and with the recent follow-up rain over the past few weeks, the field will soon be in its best condition,” says Erna du Plessis, chairperson of the Clanwilliam Wildflower Association.
The Clanwilliam Wildflower Association is strongly committed to the conservation and protection of the region’s wildflowers and strives to raise public awareness about the fragility and beauty of the wildflowers during the show. The association also provides advice and assistance to Ramskop Nature Garden, Clanwilliam’s Town garden.
Visitors are strongly recommended to visit Ramskop Nature Garden, located on the banks of the Clanwilliam Dam. The garden was proclaimed a nature reserve in 1960.
