The Ocean Campus recently wrapped up another successful edition of its Junior Biologist course, a unique educational program designed to ignite a passion for marine biology in young learners. Thanks to the support of AVI, the course was accessible to a diverse group of students, including those from underprivileged backgrounds, making a significant impact on the lives of these aspiring scientists.

The Junior Biologist course is a captivating journey through South Africa’s rich marine ecosystems. Students have the rare opportunity to explore habitats ranging from rocky shores to vibrant ocean waters, learning about the fascinating creatures that inhabit these environments. The course, enhanced by exclusive behind-the-scenes tours at the Two Oceans Aquarium, allows students to experience marine biology firsthand.

Expanding Access and Inclusivity

This year’s course was made even more accessible thanks to the generosity of AVI, which sponsored half of the spots for children from financially challenged backgrounds. Participants came from various metro areas across the country, including an enthusiastic young student from the West Coast.
