June is a special month at the V&A Waterfront, dedicated to celebrating Youth Day and Youth Month with a diverse range of events and activities. From a floating book fair to kids’ craft classes, music performances, entertainment shows, and cooking demonstrations, there is something for everyone. The festivities kick off on Friday, 14 June 2024, and continue throughout the month.
Weekend Kids Craft Classes
Every Saturday in June, the Victoria Wharf play area will host delightful craft classes with Club Engage. Children can enjoy creating Turtle Pom Poms, making ocean slime, and painting in a fun and safe environment. These classes run from 1 June to 31 August 2024, from 10h00 to 17h00 at the Lower Kids Ahoy. Please note that this activity is weather dependent.
MV Logos Hope at the V&A Waterfront
The world’s largest floating book fair, MV Logos Hope, returns to Cape Town. From 08 to 23 June 2024, explore over 5,000 book titles and meet an international crew of over 350 volunteers from 65 different nationalities. Enjoy cultural shows, children’s plays, and more at Jetty 2. The fair is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11h00 to 20h00 and Sunday from 13h00 to 20h00.
Friday Night Jazz at Makers Landing
Experience the vibrant atmosphere of Friday Night Jazz at Makers Landing on 14 June 2024, from 18h00 to 20h00. Enjoy performances by the Seth Grey Duo and 3 Brothers featuring Asemahle Tsholoba and Jesse Julies, blending live music and food for a memorable evening.
Gifted Artist Management Showcase
Celebrate Youth Day with Gifted Artist Management as they unveil their brightest stars on 15 June 2024, from 12h00 to 13h30 at the Amphitheatre. Enjoy performances by the sensational Britney Ruth, dynamic Shannon-Leigh, and captivating Joelle K.
Join Bands Not Gangs Featuring the Zolani Youth Choir “Wake Up Africa”
On Youth Day and Father’s Day, 15 June 2024, join us at the Amphitheatre for 90 minutes of high-energy, proudly South African music. The Join Bands Not Gangs Mentor’s Band and the 35-piece Zolani Youth Choir from Montagu will perform from 16h00 to 17h30, under the leadership of Odwa Mvunge.
Kids Cooking Class
Join the Charming Chef in the Enchanted Kitchen for winter-themed kids’ cooking classes on 16 June 2024, from 11h00 to 12h00 at Makers Landing. Little chefs will alternate between savory and sweet dishes, developing a good relationship with food. Book your spot online.
V&A Record & Music Fair
Celebrate Father’s Day on 16 June 2024 at the V&A Record & Music Fair, from 10h00 to 14h00 at Watershed Upper Level. With 30 traders offering over 6,000 records, music memorabilia, band merch, tees, and cassettes, this fair is a must-visit. DJs will also be spinning tunes throughout the day.
Swap and Mend with Twyg
Join Twyg for a fun and eco-friendly Swap and Mend event on 16 June 2024, from 10h00 to 14h00 at Makers Landing. Swap up to 10 clean and good condition garments or accessories, and bring your mending kit. The cost is R60 for electronic payments or R50 in cash.
