In the cool-climate vineyards of Durbanville, something special is being poured. The much-anticipated 2026 Durbanville Sauvignon Blanc — the region’s flagship collaborative wine — has officially been signed off, marking five years of a bold, shared vision among some of South Africa’s most respected winemakers.
This milestone vintage will make its first public appearance at the celebrated Sauvignon Soirée on 8 May, an annual event that has quickly become a must-attend for wine lovers.

The power of collaboration
What began in 2022 as an ambitious idea — blending the best fruit from across Durbanville’s top vineyards — has evolved into a defining symbol of the region. Over five consecutive vintages, this collaboration has achieved remarkable consistency, earning Durbanville its reputation as the home of South Africa’s “Super Sauvignon Blanc”.
Each year, leading estates contribute premium grapes, creating a wine that reflects not just terroir, but teamwork.
Crafted by the region’s finest
For the 2026 edition, the final blend was entrusted to Diemersdal, a winery internationally recognised for its Sauvignon Blanc expertise. Winemaker Juandré Bruwer led the blending process, ensuring the wine meets the high standards set by previous vintages.
Supporting the process was veteran winemaker Charles Hopkins of De Grendel, who chaired the tasting panel — bringing decades of experience and a refined palate to the selection.
A wine that tells a story
According to Bruwer, this wine is more than just a blend — it’s a reflection of Durbanville’s identity. From the soils to the personalities behind each bottle, the collaboration captures the spirit of a region defined by innovation, support, and shared excellence.
Backed by a growing list of local and international accolades, the 2026 vintage arrives with both pedigree and promise.
Sip, savour, celebrate
Timed to coincide with International Sauvignon Blanc Day on 1 May, the release invites wine enthusiasts to join a global celebration of one of the world’s most beloved varietals.
The highlight? The Sauvignon Soirée — an exclusive tasting experience hosted by Durbanville’s 12-winery collective. Guests can enjoy unlimited tastings, curated aged Sauvignon Blanc selections, gourmet canapés, and live music, all set against the backdrop of the valley’s scenic vineyards.

Inside the Sauvignon Soirée
Taking place at Cassia Restaurant at Nitida Wine Estate, the event promises an evening of elegance and flavour.
From rare aged vintages to the newly unveiled 2026 blend, the soirée offers a rare opportunity to explore the versatility and ageing potential of Sauvignon Blanc — all in one setting.
With tickets historically selling out fast, early booking is strongly advised.
Durbanville’s moment on the global stage
Five years in, the Durbanville collaboration stands as a shining example of what can be achieved when competition gives way to community. It’s not just a wine — it’s a statement.
And with the 2026 vintage, that statement is clearer than ever: Durbanville is firmly on the map as a world-class Sauvignon Blanc destination.
