There is a Comotion in the Klein Karoo and it is a buzz around a weekend of mountain biking, relaxation, and good times spent with friends and family. In short it is a big kuier. Photo by Oakpics.com.

From 14th to 16th December, Makadas Adventures is hosting the Comotion in the Klein Karoo, a two-day mountain biking event at Leeuwenboschfontein Guest Farm. It’s a perfect year-end opportunity to enjoy nature, reunite with family and friends, or take part in a December training camp. The event, which previously ran throughout the 2010s, offers a scenic yet challenging experience with rides through private game reserves, farms, and rugged terrain.

Stage 1, on Sunday 15th, covers 55 kilometres with 563 meters of climbing, taking riders through the scenic Ezelsjacth Farm. Stage 2, the Queen Stage, is tougher at 58 kilometres and 1,122 meters of climbing, leading to the Drie Kuilen lookout point at 1,405 metres above sea level, with breathtaking views.

The routes feature a mix of gravel roads, 4×4 tracks, and mountain biking trails, offering moderately technical sections. Participants can choose between a competitive race or a more relaxed ride, with timed stages available for those seeking a challenge.

The event caters to families with accommodation options ranging from camping to luxury tents and chalets. Non-riders can enjoy a game drive, a sunset walk, or relax at the race village with activities like swimming and kids’ play areas. There’s also WiFi, though limited cell reception makes it ideal for unplugging. The event also offers flexible entry packages, including self-catering or glamping options.
