Spring is around the corner in South Africa as winter prepares to shrug its coat and Plettenberg Bay dresses for the success of the 11th annual Plett ARTS Festival from 20 – 29 September 2024. You’re welcome to 10 days of immersive arts, festivities, vibrant conversation, and much more against the beautiful backdrop of South Africa’s favourite playground.
The theme of the festival is CONNECT IN PLETT with an eye towards art in nature and collaborative installations, visitors are encouraged to connect: with nature, with artists, with themselves and with the elements while enjoying legendary hospitality and restaurants, the Plett winelands, outdoor adventures and beautiful beaches. A uniquely “Plett” arts experience like no other: the festival is set to entertain and delight from beginning to end.
Festival director, Cindy Wilson-Trollip is working her magic behind the scenes to finalise the programme: “It’s that exciting time of year again, when in all of our communities, music of all genres, poetry, fine art and the Land Art Route delight audiences who come from far and wide. Expect shows and exhibitions in Plett’s natural environments of fynbos, forests and on our beaches, and in your favourite restaurants, galleries and tshisanyamas.”
Over its eleven year run, the Plett ARTS Festival has become known for refreshing events like the Plett ARTS Twilight Meander, Plett Land Art Route, 24 Hour Reunion and Plett Food and Film. While familiar favourites are set to return, this year’s offerings will provide authentic local experiences alongside new concepts that are pushing the boundaries of what is expected and ordinary – and feasting the senses in a natural environment that would delight even the most seasoned traveller.
Wilson-Trollip finishes by adding, “The arts and nature, and art in nature, is a concept that we continue to explore as the Plett ARTS Festival evolves year on year. Keep an eye on Plett ARTS Festival on Facebook & Instagram for programme announcements. Largely local, the depth of talent in Plett is on show, with outstanding artists from elsewhere in the country contributing to the music and land art programme. Come and join us, it’s going to be a memorable week.”
