Cape Town’s Growing Reputation as a Golfing Destination

‘Cape Town has established itself as a premier golf destination. We are blessed with picturesque courses and perfectly manicured greens. The high standard of golf courses, such as the one at the Durbanville Golf Club, means we can continuously attract major golfing events, featuring some of the world’s top golfers. We are proud to continue our decade-long relationship with the Sunshine Ladies Tour, which has been at the forefront of elevating professional women’s golf, and providing a developmental platform for amateur golfers. Cape Town is delighted to welcome and host the participants of the Standard Bank Ladies Open in our beautiful city,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.

The tournament will feature a formidable line up, including Cape Town’s Cara Gorlei, who will be looking for her first win in front of her home crowd.

Reigning Standard Bank Ladies Open champion, Gabrielle Venter, will be back in the Mother City to defend the title she won in 2024.

In her second Sunshine Ladies Tour season last year, Venter delivered a brilliant performance against an experienced field to become one of the youngest champions on the circuit.

Venter will face a strong field of golfers, including Sunshine Ladies Tour veterans Lee-Anne Pace, Nobuhle Dlamini, France’s Emie Peronnin (who finished second last year) and Danielle du Toit, who won the NTT Data Ladies Pro-Am in George this past weekend.
