Cape Town Cruise Terminal Crowned Africa’s Best for Fourth Consecutive Year

Cape Town

The Cape Town Cruise Terminal has once again demonstrated its excellence on the global stage, earning the title of Africa’s Best Cruise Terminal at the prestigious World Cruise Awards held in Funchal, Madeira. This marks the fourth consecutive year the terminal has received this accolade, further cementing its status as a leader in the African cruise tourism industry.

This recognition follows another recent achievement for the terminal, being named Africa’s Leading Cruise Port at the World Travel Awards earlier this year. Speaking on the accolades, Andre Blaine, Executive Manager: Marine & Industrial Property, expressed the team’s pride and dedication.

“We’re honoured to receive this accolade, especially following our recent recognition as Africa’s Leading Cruise Port,” Blaine stated. “These achievements reflect our ongoing commitment to excellence and to presenting Cape Town in the best possible light. As the first point of contact for visitors arriving by sea, the terminal plays a crucial role in shaping their experience, and we strive to make every arrival memorable.”

Collaboration Fuels Success

Blaine extended gratitude to key partners who have been instrumental in the terminal’s continued success: the Western Cape Government, the City of Cape Town, Transnet National Ports Authority, the South African Marine Safety Authority, and Cruise Cape Town powered by Wesgro. Their collaborative efforts have driven the growth of cruise tourism in the region, reinforcing Cape Town’s position as a premier destination for international visitors.

Tough Competition Among African Ports

The Cape Town Cruise Terminal faced stiff competition from other nominees, including Durban’s KwaZulu Cruise Terminal, Kenya’s Mombasa Cruise Terminal, Egypt’s Sharm El-Sheikh Sea Port, and Tanzania’s Ports of Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar.

Despite the strong field, Cape Town’s consistent commitment to quality and service excellence has set it apart, earning the respect and admiration of the global cruise industry.

A Bright Future for Cape Town’s Cruise Industry

This latest honour not only underscores Cape Town Cruise Terminal’s exceptional standards but also highlights its pivotal role in promoting South Africa’s tourism industry. With growing interest in cruise travel to Africa, the terminal’s ongoing success is poised to attract even more visitors to the vibrant city of Cape Town, ensuring its reputation as a world-class destination continues to shine.
