Following its resounding success in previous years, the eagerly anticipated Cape 1000 is gearing up for its next edition from 10 – 15 March 2024. Hosted against the stunning backdrop of Cape Town’s iconic V&A Waterfront, this grand touring regularity rally promises to be an unforgettable adventure, encapsulating the essence of the picturesque Western Cape.
This epic journey takes participants on a captivating 1000-mile route, spanning four days and five nights, as they traverse through some of the most breathtaking landscapes South Africa has to offer. The tour commences at the V&A Waterfront, leading participants through the scenic Western Cape, with pit stops in Hermanus, George, and back to the vibrant city of Cape Town.
What sets the Cape 1000 apart from traditional races is its unique blend of grand touring and challenging regularity stages. Unlike a typical race, where speed is paramount, this event emphasizes precision, teamwork, and adherence to strict timing and speed instructions. Approximately 60% of the route comprises leisurely grand touring, allowing participants to soak in the beauty of the Western Cape, while the remaining 40% presents challenging regularity stages that demand meticulous coordination between navigators and drivers. Success in the Cape 1000 is not achieved through speed alone, but rather through consistency, reliability, and accuracy.
The event welcomes a diverse range of vehicles, including those from the Pre-1977 Classic, 1977-1996 Modern Classic, and 1997-2023 Sports Car categories, limited to just 15 vehicles, as well as Specials, encompassing Restomod, Recreation, and Continuation models.
This diversity adds to the excitement and prestige of the rally. What truly makes the Cape 1000 special is its commitment to giving back to the community. The event proudly supports charities such as the Legends Benevolent Fund and the QuadPara Association of South Africa, reinforcing its dedication to making a positive impact beyond the world of motorsport.
As the countdown to the 2024 edition begins, participants and spectators alike can look forward to another unforgettable journey through the heart of the Western Cape in the Cape 1000, where adventure, camaraderie, and philanthropy come together in perfect harmony.
