After uncertainty over whether the event would proceed this year, the good news is that one of Cape Town’s most beloved charity traditions is officially back on the calendar. The 58th edition of Blisters for Bread in association with Lucky Star will take place on Sunday, 16 August 2026, bringing together thousands of participants for a morning of family fun, community spirit, and a shared commitment to fighting childhood hunger.
Hosted by the Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA), the annual event has become a powerful symbol of hope and solidarity in the Western Cape. Every year, walkers lace up their shoes not only to enjoy one of the city’s most scenic routes but also to help ensure that vulnerable children receive nutritious meals at school.
A Walk with Purpose
Starting in Stephan Way, Green Point, participants can choose between a 10km walk beginning at 07:30 or a 5km route starting at 08:00. Both routes follow the iconic Sea Point Promenade before finishing at the Green Point Common Sports Grounds.
Every participant will receive a commemorative medal and refreshments courtesy of Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages. More importantly, each entry helps support the Peninsula School Feeding Association’s mission to combat hunger among schoolchildren across the Western Cape.
Entertainment for the Whole Family
Beyond the walk itself, visitors can look forward to a lively programme of entertainment, food stalls, and family-friendly activities. This year’s lineup includes performances by 2017 SA Idols winner Paxton, singer Steven Lee Lewis, and acclaimed producer, DJ, and songwriter Sketchy Bongo.
The event has become a popular fixture on Cape Town’s winter calendar, offering a meaningful way for families, friends, and colleagues to spend time together while supporting an important cause.
Making Every Step Count
The R125 entry fee goes a long way towards changing lives. According to the PSFA, a single entry enables the organisation to provide 23 schoolchildren affected by poverty with a nutritious breakfast and lunch for an entire day.
Through its extensive school nutrition programme, the PSFA helps thousands of learners across the province receive the meals they need to concentrate, learn, and thrive in the classroom.
PSFA Director Petrina Pakoe says the event remains a powerful reminder of the difference communities can make when they work together.
“This gathering is a testament to our shared commitment to ensuring every child receives nutritious school meals. Together, we can walk towards a future without hunger,” she says.
Enter Before It Sells Out
Entries are open online and limited to 10,000 participants. Registration closes at midnight on 2 August 2026.
For many Capetonians, Blisters for Bread is more than a charity walk—it is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference, one step at a time.
