Onderkloof Wine Estate, nestled at the foot of Schapenberg mountains in Somerset West, recently had a barrel tasting where wine enthusiasts could learn the difference between young barrel wine and bottle wine.
The Onderkloof Tasting Room, now open every first Saturday of the month from 10h30 until 15h00, was bustling with visitors from far and wide to taste Onderkloof’s award winning wines. Dashing Swiss winemaker, Yves Musfeld, was there to answer questions of visitors eager to learn about winemaking. Noting the difference in colour between barrel wine and bottled wine, aficionados could also make a clear distinction between the difference in the nose and on the palate.
Onderkloof marketing manager, Luanne Musfeld, revealed the estate is to launch their 100% Cabernet Franc Rosé to the public soon. Made from the same grapes as their Cabernet Franc, named Best Value Red in South Africa by international wine authority Tim Atkin in his 2017 South Africa report, this latest addition is sure to be a treat!
Keep an eye on Onderkloof’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter platforms to stay on top of their scintillating events and be sure to meet their team at the next Onderkloof wine tasting on Saturday, 5 May or the Cab Franc Carnival on 19 May 2018.
