Country escape meets creative immersion as the annual Porterville Art Weekend unveils its fresh new identity for its ninth edition: Porterville Art for All. Taking place from 2 to 4 October 2026, this beloved Western Cape weekend transforms the scenic town into a vibrant, walkable hub of studio pop-ups, hands-on workshops, local gastronomy, and outdoor adventure.
Just a short drive from Cape Town, Porterville invites city dwellers to slow down and experience pure local hospitality across 10 central venues, featuring roughly 30 showcasing artists.
Intimate Open Studios & Local Creatives
During the event, local artists open their private homes, gardens, and studios to the public. Lifestyle visitors can meet creators directly, hear the stories behind their crafts, and purchase original fine art, ceramics, photography, and textiles. Key highlights include:
Howzit Growing Nursery: Stroll through lush gardens, enjoy a relaxed lunch, and view works by photographer Eddie Coleman, Katja Abbott, and textile artist Nell-Louise Pollock.
60 Voortrekker Street: Explore works by acclaimed ceramicist Fanie Terblanche, recognized as one of the region’s premier ceramic artists.
Jan Dunckaert Museum: Hosting an exclusive exhibition featuring Jannie Jordaan, Joy Louw, and Annemarie Visser.
The Library Exhibition: Sip locally roasted Berg Coffee while viewing pieces by Anneke Smuts, Harry Louw, and Nichola Blomerus.
Interactive Workshops & Culinary Delights The weekend kicks off on Friday, 2 October, with an array of intimate, interactive workshops:
Pottery: Hosted by ceramicist Alna Prodgers.
Upcycled Printmaking: Led by visiting artist Clare Menck.
3-Hour Painting Session: Held on Saturday morning at the Museum with artist Jannie Jordaan, covering acrylic underpainting and oil techniques.
