Mixed-media artist Heleen Niere is bringing her popular hands-on art workshops to Kanu Wines. This exciting new partnership connects winemaking with accessible fine art, creating a fresh interactive lifestyle feature for the Stellenbosch region.
As a dedicated follower and longtime admirer of Kanu Wine Estate, Niere’s connection with Cobus Germishuys—fondly known by many as the “Wine Angel of Stellenbosch”—unlocks an exciting new chapter for the venue. Having already successfully hosted a series of vibrant workshops across local creative hubs, and as a national Vuleka Art Competition Top 40 finalist, her sessions go far beyond predictable, cookie-cutter art classes.

Upcoming Creative Sessions
The collaboration kicked off with a highly successful inaugural workshop at the end of May, with the next eagerly anticipated session scheduled for 28 June.
During these events, participants explore her signature mixed-media style, transforming wooden MDF sculptures into vibrant, textured pieces of art using her expert techniques for repurposing materials. By utilizing tailored methods, clever aids, and her background in guiding a community of over 250 local creators, she ensures that every participant leaves with a masterpiece they are proud to display.
Bridging Visual Arts with the Spirit of the Winelands
Kanu is also a supportive partner, having teamed up with the non-profit Association for Visual Arts (AVA) and Art Bellville to sponsor wine for selected events hosted by Heleen. By hosting these sessions at the estate, the collaboration offers a unique opportunity to blend fine wine with distinctive, high-quality creative experiences.

While Niere maintains a close connection with Cobus at the wine tasting venue, her interactive workshop sessions are hosted at the estate’s dedicated Du Vin Restaurant. Spaces are limited, so be sure to make your booking for 28 June to secure your spot for this next creative artwork session.
