Disney On Ice Returns to Cape Town with “Mickey’s Search Party”

The winter school holidays are about to get a massive dose of theatrical enchantment as the global phenomenon Disney On Ice officially locks in its highly anticipated Cape Town leg for the 2026 South African tour. Brought to local shores by leading promoter Showtime Management and proudly presented in association with FNB, this year’s high-tech production, “Mickey’s Search Party,” promises an immersive adventure at the Grand Arena at GrandWest from 10 to 19 July 2026.

Merging world-class figure skating with unexpected aerial choreography, hoverboard stunts, and high-flying acrobatics, the production is designed to transform the ice into a captivating arena of magic.

Join the Quest and a Historic Debut

The dynamic storyline invites Cape Town families to become part of the action, joining Mickey Mouse and his iconic companions on a high-stakes quest. Following Captain Hook’s treasure map to uncover hidden clues, the audience helps the search party locate and rescue Tinker Bell after her magic is captured. Making this run extra special, the mischievous Stitch makes his official Disney On Ice South African debut, crashing the performance with hilarious surprises.

A Voyage Through Beloved Worlds

The production stands out for its transformative use of cutting-edge special effects and vibrant, multi-dimensional stagecraft. Audiences inside the Grand Arena will journey across the stunning Marigold Bridge with Miguel from Coco into the mystical Land of the Dead, sail away with Moana as she bravely saves her island, witness an enchanted chandelier come to life high above the ice with Belle in Beauty and the Beast, and sing along with Elsa in the glittering, frosty world of Frozen. The nostalgic celebration also weaves in beloved characters from Aladdin, Toy Story, and The Little Mermaid.

Mind-Blowing Production Magic by the Numbers

Bringing an arena production of this magnitude to life requires staggering technical precision. The show travels across South Africa in 15 fully packed trucks to construct a massive 35-metre by 18-metre ice surface. The visual spectacle features 173 dazzling costumes—with backstage changes taking under 30 seconds—and set pieces towering up to 11 metres high. Immersive environments are projected using 12 powerful projectors and 221 lighting fixtures, while a massive 200,000 watts of audio power ensures every classic song resonates perfectly.

Tailored School Holiday Scheduling

Perfectly timed to coincide with the mid-winter school break, the Cape Town run offers an extensive, multi-layered calendar of showtimes. Running daily throughout the mid-July peak, performance slots are staggered to feature accessible morning, midday, and late-afternoon windows.

Secure Your Family Seats Safely

As the Mother City’s undisputed favourite family winter tradition, seats for this limited seasonal run are highly coveted and historically sell out fast. To protect patrons from fraudulent secondary ticket marketplaces, organizers emphasize that Ticketmaster is the strict, sole authorized ticketing agent. Tickets purchased through unauthorized third parties will not be honoured.

Crucially, parents must note a strict update to venue safety regulations: every single attendee, irrespective of age—including babes in arms and children under two years—must have a valid purchased ticket to enter. Official bookings are now live at Ticketmaster.co.za.
