‘It’s Heritage Month and we want to showcase our natural heritage in Cape Town. We are so privileged to be surrounded with the pristine natural beauty that exists in our city. This Heritage Day, we encourage residents to get outdoors and make the most of the public holiday by exploring their local nature reserve or better yet, take a drive to the other side of town to visit a reserve you have not visited before for a hike before the braai, or perhaps a peaceful family picnic at our facilities. Two of Cape Town’s natural heritage gems that come to mind is the Blaauwberg Nature Reserve and False Bay Nature Reserve. Both offer the perfect spot for a braai; the Eerste Steen braai facility at Blaauwberg is the perfect beach braai location and of course the Zeekoevlei braai facilities at False Bay overlook the vlei,’ said the City’s Deputy Mayor and Mayoral Committee Member for Spatial Planning and Environment, Alderman Eddie Andrews.
This offer applies to the nature reserves which usually have an entrance fee, namely the Table Bay; Blaauwberg; Tygerberg and Helderberg Nature Reserve. Please note that the normal rates for permitted recreational activities at the reserves will still be charged.
