A Journey Through History with New Cape Central Railway

Steeped in history and scenic wonder, the New Cape Central Railway (NCCR) continues a legacy that began in 1893 with Cape Central Railways’ vision to connect Worcester and Voor Bay, Mossel Bay. Overcoming immense challenges, including war, floods, and transport difficulties, the railway finally reached Mossel Bay on 25th July 1907. For 15 years, NCCR operated as the last privately owned railway line in close collaboration with South African Railways (SAR), playing a vital role in regional development.

Rediscovering the Beauty of the Breede River Valley

In 2020, 127 years after its original inception, Derick du Toit reignited the NCCR’s legacy, emphasizing the untapped potential of the region. By combining history, scenic beauty, and economic opportunity, the NCCR aims to connect people, trains, and the vibrant spirit of the area.

The NCCR winds its way through the breathtaking Breede River Valley, an area renowned for its rich agricultural landscapes.
