Get ready for a “shucking good time” at the highly anticipated Knysna Oyster Festival, scheduled for 21 – 30 June 2024. This annual event not only celebrates the famous Knysna oysters but also features a vibrant mix of culinary, cultural, and sporting activities, attracting visitors from around South Africa. The festival will take place at various locations throughout Knysna, including the Nedbank Pavilion, Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival Grounds on Waterfront Drive, and the Knysna High School sports field, acting as the main hubs for festivities.

Adding a unique twist to this year’s lineup is the integration of the Eden Classic Car and Motorcycle Show, set to take place at the Scarab Arts & Craft Village, located off the N2, west of Sedgefield.  This show will feature a stunning array of classic and modern sports cars, high-performance vehicles, and iconic collector motorcycles, making it a must-visit for motor enthusiasts.

Thrilling Sporting Events

The festival is not just about oysters and cars; it’s also a sports enthusiast’s paradise. The Knysna Forest Marathon and Half Marathon on 22 June offer runners breathtaking views and a challenging course through the scenic Knysna Forest. For trail runners, the Houtkapper Trail Run on 23 June provides a spectacular route through nature’s playground.

Cyclists can look forward to the Knysna Cycle Tour with its array of MTB and road races on 29 and 30 June. These races promise a weekend of camaraderie and thrilling competition. Additionally, the festival includes the Harbour 2 Heads Lagoon Challenge, a canoe race that offers both junior and senior paddlers an exhilarating experience on the Knysna Lagoon.
