The Sonderend mountains towering above the villages of Greyton and Genadendal in the Overberg will soon come alive again with the sounds of beautiful classical music. The popular Greyton Genadendal Classics for All Festival takes place on the weekend of 12 – 14 May 2023.

Now in its 19th year, Classics for All is a small, intimate and unpretentious get-together for music lovers from all walks of life. The ethos behind this festival is to take audiences on an accessible classical music adventure, catering for the tastes of everyone, from the aficionado to the lesser devotee.

Twelve concerts will be performed in various churches in Greyton and Genadendal and on the historic The Oaks Estate, a few kilometres outside Greyton. Concert-goers can look forward to performances by the clarinet and piano duo from the Netherlands, Maria du Toit and Vera Kooper, Mixed Doubles featuring the critically acclaimed Lutesong Consort, the Disa Trio, the sensational Voces Cordis choir under the baton of award-winning conductor Andre van der Merwe, the Rainbow Exchange String, soloists such as Thobela Ntshanyana, Lynelle Kenned, Lente Louw, Zanne Stapelberg de Lange, Willem Bester and more. Two additional concerts will be performed by the Handevat Project String Orchestra, to be attended by learners of the six schools in Greyton, Genadendal and Bereaville.

The Classics for All festival offers three days of wonderful music and genuine warm Overberg hospitality. Do some wine and beer tasting, visit the Greyton Saturday morning market, browse the many art galleries, visit the historic Genadendal Moravian Church Square and the piano exhibition at the Genadendal museum, and indulge in the delicious country fare on offer in the local restaurants and street cafes some of which will be offering classical busking – adding to the festive atmosphere in the villages.
