On the 19th April 2018 a group of special people will be holding a fundraising event for “Wild Rescue” which is a new rehabilitation facility with a clinic, and a sanctuary for animals that have been injured and rescued from the wild.
Gill Simpson of Riversdale has a passion and complete love for all types of animals especially wildlife and in particular primates. Her desire to save the many animals that are injured by road accidents, poisoning and traps or deliberate human actions, has led to the creation and birth of a wonderful organisation called “Wild Rescue”.
Wild Rescue’s vision is to be a wildlife sanctuary and rehabilitation centre with a high standard of care, compassion and ethics, an asset to the Western Cape, working for the long-term sustainability of all wildlife and biodiversity.
Situated 28 kilometres from Riversdale this 165 hectares of stunning land is the perfect spot for such a beautiful cause and to provide a sanctuary for rescued animals.
They have planned a centre to provide rehabilitation and a semi natural environment for them to live in, if they cannot be released into the wild.
They plan to provide education on the importance of respect and compassion for all sentient beings, the environment and habitats.
They are also preserving the vulnerable and endangered eco zones and plant species on the nature reserve. By working with other organisations for the common long-term good for all they will provide educational facilities and set an example for compassionate and sustainable living practices.
The first of their projects is to build enclosures for the rescued animals and to equip the veterinary clinic that is already in the process of being completed.
With the help of a few friends and passionate people the organisation will be holding a fundraising auction on 19th April at the African Pride 15 on Orange Hotel in Cape Town. Guests will be treated to entertainment, snacks, drinks and an auction conducted by the well- known auctioneer Joey Burke.
This is a relatively new organisation in desperate need of start-up funds and the auction intends to raise R300,000 towards their projects.
